At the request of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, we have cancelled this event. As we were using their name in the publicity, they would not give us their permission for that usage. They based their decision by stating that our event was not in line with their stance on gun violence. Our apologies to designated beneficiary groups, event sponsors and participants. If you made a donation, you will still receive a t-shirt and the net proceeds of your donation will be donated. As an event sponsor, we will either refund your donation, or donate the amount in full directly toward the designated beneficiary groups. If you are a paid event participant, please either request a refund by 12/31 or we will send you a t-shirt and donate the net proceeds of your entry fee. We are now going to have a lot of unsold t-shirts: we are accepting donations of $25 or more, in which case you will receive a t-shirt and the net proceeds will be donated to the designated beneficiary groups. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Help raise money for Miami-Dade County boy's and girl's lacrosse programs at the K-12 level. Join us at Trail Glades Sport Shooting Range on December 28-30 for our 1st Annual BDMLAX Charity Turkey Shoot.
Public school lacrosse teams in Miami-Dade County must self fund their own lacrosse programs, to include new equipment to be owned by the schools. This is putting an extra $20,000-$30,000 financial burden on these programs as they make their transition to a fully fledged varsity sport. Help us raise money for the three existing schools (Coral Reef, Killian and Palmetto) as well as for new high school and middle school programs trying to get off the ground. We are also seeking to raise funds to put training, lesson plans and soft lacrosse equipment into the hands of elementary PE teachers throughout the county. All these schools are under served - with your generous support, hundreds of thousands of youth will be exposed to Lacrosse over the next decade.
To be clear: We aren't actually shooting turkeys! The term "turkey shoot" has a long history in America as slang for a marksmanship contest held in the fall with prizes for the winners. If you own a firearm, join us at this charity event to support this great cause. There will be a minimum $100 prize in each category. If you can't stop by or don't own or want to touch a firearm, you can still register and make your entry fee a direct donation for this event.
Taking that one step further: Tell your "friends of lacrosse" across Florida, the United States and around the globe about this fundraising event. They can still all register and donate from anywhere using the Internet. ![]()
Are you ready to raise your game:
Sick stick skills: Are your behind the back, non-dominant , and bounce passes just as comfortable as throwing with your dominant hand. Can you pass "spot-on-target" nearly the entire length of the field, even with a short stick?
Great Defense Skills and Footwork: Can you keep a low attacker below Goal Line Extended or safely ride any opponent out to the sidelines at your discretion? Can you defend 6 on 3 and win the ball back almost every time?
Attacking: Can you hit a 9" inch square at the 4 corners of the net (or the "5-hole") again and again from any angle? Can you execute all manner of dodges repeatedly and "sell" the defense into mistake after mistake? Can you thread the needle by feeding through defenders multiple times on a fast break or in settled play to work for the "A" and let your teammate score the easy close in goal?
Speed and agility: Are you as fast as you can be? Are you training properly to prevent injuries during games? Just how good is your footwork, and can you do that with a stick, a ball and game pressure?
How is Your Lax IQ: Lacrosse is a team sport - individual players don't win games, execute successful offenses or provide an effective defense. Can you see the full field, think several moves ahead and "coach" yourself to the best outcome that uses your entire team's resources?
To be a great lacrosse player you'll have to work hard, but it will be a lot of fun getting there. Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced boys or girls player, BDM Lacrosse can help you get there - quickly. No yelling or screaming, instead a lot of positive coaching and a steady progression forward of your skill level. Great drills and instruction that progress to constructive high level scrimmage and game play.
BDM LAX develops great lacrosse players by focusing on skills, drills, and demanding team play.
Over the past four years:
This year BDM LAX will also be offering a boy's program following on the success of the Killian lacrosse season and it's six All-District player award recipients. Five Killian Boys players are on the ESPN Rise National High School Player Lacrosse Watch List. Boys in grades K-12 from any school and of any skill level are welcome.
